9 April 2019 – Dennistoun Thistle 10 – 1 LCCT – Milton – KO 8pm
Last night saw us celebrate our first victory and what a victory it was!
We were back at Milton again for friendly number 4. Tonight’s opposition was LCCT who play in the Airdrie and Coatbridge Sunday AFL. The team were well up for this game after the significant improvement they’d seen in their team performance last week and again squad numbers were strong with 20 players turning up, which gave the manager a bit of a headache!
A strong starting 11 was chosen and the game kicked off. Thistle were on top form from the start with some quality passing and you could see we were hungry to score. The first goal soon followed, then another and another… and another making it 4-0 before 40 mins. The team were flying and try as they might LCCT just weren’t able to break thistle down.
An error from our own team just before half time led to an own goal making it 4-1 at the break, but the team were full of confidence now and wanted to make the second half as impressive as the first.
The second half kicked off with 4 changes to the Thistle team, the comfortable score line allowing the manager to change things up and see what some of the new recruits could do. By full time all 20 lads had been given time on the pitch and we’d tried no less than 3 different formations as the squad was changed and they all offered something different and all something positive.
The team netted a further 6 goals in the second half taking the final result to 10-1.
There were far too many standout performances to single anyone out, but it’s safe to say the team are buzzing after that performance and hopefully it’s a positive sign of what’s to come!
No friendly next week as we have to go and have a meeting with the league we’re hoping to secure a place in (more on that later), so our next game will be on Thursday 25 April when we’ll be looking to make it win number 2!
We’re looking to play lots more friendlies in the run up to the 2019/20 season beginning, so if you have a team that’s looking for a bit of competition then let us know and we’ll be happy to arrange something!
We’re also still looking for players, fans and sponsors too, so if you’d like to be involved in some way or find out more about the club then please get in touch by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll be happy to talk.
