4 June 2019 – Dennistoun Thistle 2 – 3 Scoutable Utd– Glasgow Green – KO 8pm
Last night was without a doubt the rainiest game yet and it’s June! Scoutable Utd were the opposition, another new team that has not long started up for the coming season. Their aim is to use it as a platform to get scouted by clubs and with 3 already having being offered a trial by Albion Rovers we weren’t quite sure what this game was going to bring.
Another squad of 20 assembled before kick off with a couple of new faces for us, but experienced in terms of their amateur football careers and everyone was excited to see what they would bring to the team.
After a week off everyone was raring to get back to it and go and get the win, but it didn’t quite work out that way. The game was heated and physical from the outset and about 20 mins in there was a flash point that left the ref with a bit of calming down to do. Tackles were flying in from both teams and the game was a bit stop start as a result. Scoutable took the lead and at half time it was 1-0 to them.
A half time team talk and a couple of changes allowed us to regain our composure at the start of the second half. The game still had an air of tension around it, but better football was being played by both teams. Scoutable extended their lead to 2-0 and to the credit of the Dennistoun players they didn’t put their heads down but instead pushed on to see if they could get back into the game.
A great shot from Thistle and the scoreline was 2-1 and you could tell that with 15 minutes to go Thistle felt like they could go on and get something from the game however just a couple of minutes later an absolute screamer from Scoutable Utd made it 3-1 and Thistle looked to be trailing by too much with too little time.
Thistle kept pushing right until the end though, and the last 10 minutes were frantic with a couple of decent opportunities for Thistle to get another goal and they got one, making the score 3-2. With only a couple of minutes left to play Thistle tried to get a third, but couldn’t.
Full time score: Dennistoun Thistle 2– 3 Scoutable Utd.
