Dennistoun Thistle is pleased to announce that we have been accepted into the Strathclyde Evangelical Churches League (SECL) for season 2019/20.
Thistle’s place in the league was confirmed at the League’s AGM on Wednesday 12 June, allowing the team to begin fully preparing for the season ahead.
The Churches League or SECL (as it is most commonly known) is a Saturday morning league in the Strathclyde area, with 3 divisions. Thistle will enter in Division 2, the lowest division in the league and will be joined by other new league entrants Tollcross AFC and Trinity AFC.
The league kicks off in August, with fixutres to be announced shortly and it’s already shaping up to be a competitive one for the upcoming season with both the experienced and new teams looking to challenge for the title.
Finally a huge thanks to the Churches League committee who have been extremely helpful in supporting us with our application – their advice and support is much appreciated. We’d also like to thank St Andrew’s East Parish Church in Dennistoun for supporting our application and look forward to working with both parties in the coming months.
There will be more exciting news to follow in the coming weeks, such as where we’ll be playing our home games and the announcement of our fixtures – hopefully we’ll see some of you there to cheer us on!
We’re looking to play lots more friendlies in the run up to the 2019/20 season beginning, so if you have a team that’s looking for a bit of competition then let us know and we’ll be happy to arrange something! (we’re keeping our pre-season schedule up to date on social media, so check and see if there’s a date that suits you.)
We’re also still looking for players, fans and sponsors too, so if you’d like to be involved in some way or find out more about the club then please get in touch by emailing email@example.com and we’ll be happy to talk.
