20 June 2019 – Brunswick AFC 4 – 2 Dennistoun Thistle– St Ambrose High School Coatbridge – KO 8pm
Last night Dennistoun Thistle were back in action against Brunswick AFC, a good Sunday side with plenty of experience behind them. We knew this game would be a tough test for us and weren’t sure what the outcome would be, but the team went into it ready to fight for the win.
The first half simply didn’t look like it was Dennistoun’s day. The team were second to a lot of balls and just didn’t look like we were in the game. By half time it was 3-0 and unless the team were to have a comeback like Argentina did against Scotland securing a win seemed unlikely.
A goal to Dennistoun got everyone wondering was it possible though as the score sat at 1-3 and Dennistoun seemed to be making their way back into the game. Another goal from Brunswick suggested though that a win wasn’t on the cards and at 4-1 the game got a little bit tense.
Tensions flared up between both sides, carried forward from the game against Mill AFC the week previous (as a couple of Mill players are also in the Brunswick team) and meant the last 20 mins became a physical battle as Dennistoun tried to get something from the game and Brunswick tried to extend their lead.
The last goal of the game came from Thistle, bringing the final score to 4-2.
Full time score: Brunswick AFC 4 – 2 Dennistoun Thistle.
