Saturday 23 November 2019 – Trinity 2 – 5 Dennistoun Thistle – Ballerup – KO 10am

Today saw us play Trinity AFC – another one of the new teams to the churches league this season, and our opposition in the Athol cup semi final in December. Having met in pre-season when the two teams were just getting going, and given their form in the cup and league so far we knew to expect a competitive game and potentially a psychologically important game given that our next 2 competitive encounters would also be against them.

Thistle definitely started the stronger of the 2 sides and within 12 minutes Tidser had opened the scoring, this was quickly followed by a second on 18 mins from Aldo and a third just before half time (43 mins) again by Aldo.

We started the second half just as strong and on 60 mins we got our 4th goal of the game. At this point the team got a bit complacent and lost 2 goals in the space of 10 minutes, before Dennistoun scoring again on 81 mins to all but secure the win.

The game was tough in parts, but a good all round performance today saw us win comfortably.

This game concludes our league fixtures for 2019. We now have a free week (and the small matter of our christmas night out) to look forward to, before a friendly match on 7 Dec and then both legs of the Athol Cup Semi final to be played on 14 and 21 Dec to conclude this years fixtures.

Based on current results it looks like Dennistoun will finish the year in second place in the league – but with many teams having games to catch up on and the majority of the games still to be played in the second half of the season there’s still everything to play for!

Full time score: Trinity 2 – 5 Denistoun Thistle
