Our manager is a little bit football obsessed to say the least, in fact sometimes he’s probably at 5/6 amateur games a week! A previous amateur player when he hit his 30’s he decided it was time to hang up his boots and contribute to the game in other ways instead. Since then he has qualified as a referee and regularly takes to the middle of the pitch in amateur games as well as the occasional line in junior and women’s football and hopes to progress this further.
He also started his foray into management last year assisting with an amateur team, before taking the plunge this season and co-founding Dennistoun Thistle. His experience on the pitch should help him as he undertakes his role as manager, but there will no doubt be some challenges and learning points along the way! We’re looking forward to seeing how the season progresses.
Role at Dennistoun Thistle:
Main role is to create a winning team! Player selection and signings with support from the coach, anything relating to running the team.
Do you have any nicknames?
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
Played amateur football for many years, now trying my hand at standing on the sidelines managing instead. It’s going to be an interesting challenge! When I’m not managing I’m a qualified referee, so a lot of my time is spent at the side or in the middle of a pitch!
At the side of the pitch or in the middle. Was once in defence!
